A Couple of Silly Obama-nations

The horrible $1 trillion spending bill passed in the house yesterday. The Senate votes next week. It will probably pass. The only good news is none of the republicans voted for it, despite Obama's begging. I just heard today that the bill will allow ILLEGAL aliens to get a $500 or $1,000 check from the government!

Since that is just too depressing to imagine, here are a couple of lighthearted Obama-nations today.

Guess how Obama celebrated the House voting yesterday to spend almost $1 TRILLION dollars on ridiculous spending masquerading as a stimulus package? He decided to throw a cocktail party where he enjoyed vodka martinis and wagyu steak (comes from a special breed of cows and costs $100 for a 16 oz.). His guests should be eating ramen noodles and drinking tap water since that's what their grandchildren will be doing to pay for this.

Also, courtesy of michellemalkin.com, here's a quote from Obama on the campaign trail: "We can't just drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes at 72 degrees at all times . . . and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK". So the White House is now probably signifiantly cooler than 72 degrees, right? We have to save energy! No, Obama likes it hot. He appeared in the oval office on his first day at work w/o a suit jacket. Reporters questioned it and David Axelrod, his senior advisor, explained that Obama liked it hot, he was from Hawaii, and "you could grow orchids in [his office]". A typical liberal mentality - do as I say, not as I do. Similar to Al Gore's $30,000 per year utility bill.

Follow Up on "Stimulus" Bill

Here are a couple of afterthoughts to my recent Obama-nations.

I heard on the radio that Obama's tailpipe emissions program, under which he expects US automakers to improve their fuel efficiency in 18 months and will allow each state to pass their own tailpipe emissions standards, will add between $2000 and $10,000 to the cost of each new vehicle.
Obama's "stimulus" package, which I've heard will pass the House today, contains some real doozies:
  • $572 million for the coast guard for acquisition, construction & improvements. They promise to create 1,235 new jobs. At $460,000 per job!
  • $200 million for Dept of Defense to buy alternative energy vehicles.
  • $200 million for plug in stations for the Dept of Defense to plug in their cars, at a cost of $3,700 per plug in station
  • $25 million for improving ATV trails (hey, here's an idea - how about if people who want to drive an ATV pay a fee to use a trail? Hmmm?)
  • $400 million for HIV and chlamydia testing
  • $1.5 BILLION for a "carbon capturing contest"
  • $75 million for smoking cessation
  • $66 BILLION for the Dept. of Education - but NONE of that to private schools!!

How does ANY of this stimulate the economy? Sure, a few select groups can hire a few people but here's a simple idea - how about, for fiscal year 2009, there's massive tax cut to businesses. Or a moratorium on capital gains taxes? Talk about a jump start to the economy! But no, instead lets spend $400 million so people can get tested for AIDS.

Obama will Tank the Auto Industry

What's a great way to really hurt America's struggling auto industry, and therefore kick the economy down even further? How about forcing our car industry to meet new tough fuel efficiency standards in 18 months?
That's exactly what Obama did yesterday. Obama also signed a bill allowing states to make their own tailpipe emissions standards, which can be even tougher than federal standards. California is about to go completely broke, but is apparently extremely concerned right now not about its budget, but about tailpipe emissions. How will the auto industry be able to function if there are 50 different tailpipe emissions standards they have to be responsible for meeting? Way to kick them when they're down Obama!! Way to make cars more expensive for all of us Obama!! Do you think the price of cars will stay the same for everyone?
Do you know why he says he is doing this? Out of concern for man-made global warming. Well guess what, scientists don't even agree that the Earth is getting hotter. For those who think it is getting hotter, they can't agree that it is a man-made problem. So Obama is going to run the U.S. auto industry out of business to solve a problem that doesn't even exist.

Obama's "Stimulus" Plan

The news today is just Obam-inable. His "stimulus" package is now at $850 Billion dollars and is 334 pages long. And it is just a freaking joke.

Thomas Bartholt, head of the Joint Committee on Taxation, testified Thursday that he couldn't promise that ONE SINGLE JOB would result from this proposal by Democrats. Here's an idea: give me $850 billion dollars, and I PROMISE that I can create at least one job. Maybe even 2 or 3. I think a human with the brain cells of an earthworm could manage to create at least one job with $850 billion.

But guess what, this "stimulus package" isn't really about stimulating the economy at all, it's about blowing money on pet projects. The "stimulus" package includes $1 Billion for new Censuses, $400 million for “habitat restoration and migration activities,” $150 million for “bridge removal,” $800 million for Amtrak, and $200 million for the “leaking underground storage tank trust fund”.

According to redstate.com, the "stimulus package" includes more than 4 times as much funding for grass planting on the Washington Mall as there is small business tax relief. Who exactly decided that planting grass on the Washington Mall was better for the economy than small business tax relief???????

According to michellemalkin.com, even more incredibly, groups that commit voter fraud like ACORN are eligible to receive up to a $4.19 billion pot of money for "neighborhood stabilization activities". Also, Nancy Pelosi wants to add birth control funding to the "stimulus package". Birth control does not stimulate the economy, Nancy!

This is not a stimulus package!! This is borrowing/printing massive amounts of new money to throw around to various special interest groups.

If Darrell and I ran our household budget like congress (borrowed tons of money we didn't have and ran out to every possible store we could find to buy crazy things like iguanas and gold plated toilet seats), we would be living in a homeless shelter by now. Very very sad.

Obama & the Press

Since it's the weekend, I'll send you an amusing, lighthearted Obama-nation. Remember on the campaign trail how the press went nuts when poor "Joe the Plumber" dared to ask Obama a substantive question about why it was fair to punish those who worked hard and earned money by giving it to those who hadn't done so? Do you remember any hard questions ever being thrown at Obama in interviews?

Well now he's getting a taste of what it's like to actually have to answer some substantive questions and how did he do? He scores a big fat F. Read this hilarious article. When asked real questions by the White House press corps about lobbyists and a Pentagon nominee, he got irritated and said he was just coming to visit and introduce himself. How dare that reporter ask him a question when his teleprompter isn't on and his advisor isn't whispering in his ear?

Follow Up on Guantanamo Bay

Here's a follow-up to my previous Obama-nation about closing Guantanamo Bay. The New York Times has this article today about a former Gitmo detainee who was released, and is now the deputy leader of Al Qaeda in Yemen.

Obama's First Week in Office

First, an update on the abortion posting I sent yesterday. I read this news today: Obama's planning to reverse a federal ban that prevents funds from going to international groups that promote or perform abortions. Wow, you have to hand it to him, he really hit the ground running didn't he. Nominating a tax cheat to head the IRS, closing Gitmo and preventing waterboarding, which will cost American lives, and now this. So let me get this straight, some of my tax money that gets taken directly out of my pocket can now be used so some girl in Mexico City can get an abortion, which millions of Americans have moral and religious objections to? And this is happening while we are borrowing trillions from other countries? It sounds too ridiculous to even be believed. I hope the founding fathers can't see this.

Also, I just started reading Jerome Corsi's book The Obama Nation, where I got the title of my postings. I am only on page 63, but already it's unbelievable to me how many half-truths and outright lies are contained in Obama's autobiography.

Finally, the Obama-nation of the day: reader Mark sent me this fascinating article by Dick Morris. It outlines how the US is marching towards socialism under Obama's watch. Obama wants to give every family making less than $200K a "refundable tax credit" whether those people pay taxes or not. He will expand the percent of Americans who pay no taxes from around 1/3 to more than 1/2. A majority of Americans will receive money from the government. How can we function as a democracy if over half of our citizens are on the dole?

Some other predictions from Morris: Obama will nationalize the banking system. He promised to move our current healthcare system to a "single payer system" (ie, socialized medicine). He's going to open the borders. He will enact the "Fairness Doctrine" to shut down conservative talk radio. (FYI, I swear if he takes my talk radio away from me I am storming DC - is anybody with me?). Other dire predictions are contained in the article. A bright point - he predicts Obama's name will be mud by 2012 and probably by 2010. Much too late.

Update on Previous Obama-nations

A couple of updates:

Fidel Castro believes in Obama. Well hey, if a murderous communist dictator supports him, why shouldn't I?

Obama signed an order to close Guantanamo Bay prison. It will close within a year according to the order. He also forbade waterboarding. Who cares if it works and does absolutely no permanent damage to the terrorist? It makes the terrorists feel bad and we can't have that. Did you know that terrorist Khalid Sheik Mohammed spilled his guts after 90 seconds of waterboarding? He told interrogators about 6 major terrorists who were then identified and incarcerated, one of whom was engaged in a plot to destroy the Brooklyn Bridge. Read more here.

Also, a senate panel voted to confirm Timothy Geithner as treasury secretary and he's expected to be confirmed by the whole senate. Who cares if he doesn't pay his taxes on purpose, let's put him in charge of the IRS!!

Barack, the Abortion President

Since today is the anniversary of Roe v. Wade (and also my birthday - a tragic coincidence) let's review Obama's position on abortion (but first, watch this fascinating video showing a little of Barack's position):
  • he promises the first thing he'll do as president is to sign the Freedom of Choice Act, which would disallow states from putting ANY restrictions whatsoever on abortion, including parental consent for minors and waiting periods. The FOCA should be entitled "Absolutely No Choices for States in Drafting their Own Abortion Laws Act".
  • he wants his universal health care plan to include taxpayer funded abortions
  • he supports partial birth abortion
  • worst of all, as a state legislator, he voted repeatedly against a bill that would require infants who were born alive after botched abortions to be provided with medical care. His excuses? 1. doctors were already required under state law to provide for infants born alive - untrue. 2. the statute didn't contain language protecting Roe v. Wade - outright lie, the statute did contain said language. 3. It's too burdensome to require another doctor to come in to pronounce the child dead, which is what the statute required. Fascinating article here. It's interesting to note that when the exact bill came up for a federal vote, every single senator voted in favor of it, including the super liberal senators Clinton and Kennedy. Actually, even NARAL Pro Choice America did not oppose the bill. Obama is more pro-abortion that NARAL!!!
  • Bush passed a regulation allowing medical workers to refuse to provide information, such as referrals, to patients seeking abortions, if they have a moral objection to abortion. Obama's people are working even as we speak to overturn it.

Do you think the majority of Obama's brain-dead voters knew any of this? Even most pro-choicers are against partial birth abortion. Of course, how are they going to get this information? Do you think NBC news is going to run a story entitled "Obama Voted Repeatedly to Let Living Babies Die After Botched Abortions?" And besides, he's "cool" and good at reading off a teleprompter, so let's ignore every single position he has.

Oops, I Watched It

Oops, I was planning on avoiding all media today. So I made the stupid mistake of meeting my husband for lunch at a restaurant full of big screen TVs all tuned to CNN from 11:30 to 12:30. One of the TVs was directly over my head. Well at least I kept my lunch down.

Some highlights: an invocation from Reverend Joseph Lowery that asked God to "help us work for that day when black will not be asked to give back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man, and when white will embrace what is right." Excuse me? Whites need to work for the day when they can embrace what is right? Maybe some day blacks won't be asked to give back? Excuse me? Wasn't he at the inauguration of the first black president and he's still crying racism? Pathetic.

And then there was Obama's lovely speech. First, it was extremely depressing, full of doom and gloom. I guess if he tells us how truly horrible things are, and that they are going to get worse, then we can't be disappointed if he hasn't lifted the US out of its troubles in his first term and we'll have to re-elect him.

His speech contained lines like
- we will "roll back the specter of a warming planet" (it was 36 degrees at Bush's inauguration in 2004 and 26 degrees today, and scientists admit the earth has been cooling for the last 3 years, but don't worry, Obama will save us from a warming planet).

- "the nation cannot prosper long when it favors only the prosperous"

- "the question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works" (can you just feel the government getting bigger with his every breath?)
Yuck!

What an Obam-inable Day!

Am I the only one trying to avoid all media today? I just saw a picture of his smug face on the front page of yahoo and almost lost my breakfast.

A couple of interesting things about the inauguration:
1. I have heard that Obama will be sworn in using his full name, Barack Hussein Obama. Funny that it was considered incredibly racist for any Republican to even mention his middle name, but it's ok for him to be sworn in under it.

2. I've heard there's a lot of controversy about Obama choosing Rick Warren to deliver the invocation because he's anti gay marriage. Well guess who else thinks marriage is between a man and a woman. Obama himself! Hmmm.

Now, the Obama-nation of the day:

This is old news by now, but it's worth mentioning. Timothy Geithner, Obama's choice for Treasury Secretary, did not pay Social Security or Medicare taxes for four years, despite being instructed to do so by his employer. Geithner signed a form saying he would pay the tax. He also accepted reimbursement for SS and Medicare taxes he hadn't paid. He finally paid part of it after an audit in 2006 and the rest when he was nominated to become treasury secretary. Obama's team knew that when they picked him. So a guy who can't pay his taxes will be in charge of our financial system and the IRS?

OK for Obama, But Not Bush

Didn't Obama paint Bush as an evil warmonger during his entire campaign? Didn't he make a point of stating ad nauseum that he voted against the war in Iraq, we shouldn't be there, we need to get out of there as soon as possible, the war has thrown us deeply in debt and cost us thousands of lives, etc.?

So what is this about Obama sending 30,000 troops to Afghanistan? What all are the peace-loving hippie head in the clouds fans of his going to think about that? Why is it OK for him to withdraw troops from Iraq and send them to Afghanistan, but it's not OK for Bush to send troops to Iraq, during which time he removed a murderous dictator from power? Aren't American lives going to be lost in Afghanistan, like Iraq? Isn't a conflict in Afghanistan going to be expensive, like Iraq? Aren't there basically the same people in Afghanistan that there are in Iraq?

If Obama sees a need to send troops to Afghanistan, fine with me. Being in Iraq is fine with me. But why does the media portray Bush as an evil warmonger, and says nothing about Obama's actions? Give me a break!

Obama's Inauguration Cost

Did you know Obama's inauguration is expected to cost between $95 and $150 million (depending on who you ask)? Part of that is paid for by private donations, but we the taxpayers are picking up a large chunk of the tab. In fact, Bush has had to declare an economic emergency to pay for it. Isn't there something wrong with having a hugely expensive party when the nation is in a severe economic mess?

Did you know that for Bush's inauguration in 2005, which cost $40 million, the Associated Press (on 1/13/05) made a list of all the things that money could be spent on instead and asked "do we need to spend this money on what seems so extravagant?" On 1/13/09, the AP ran a report stating: "So you're attending an inaugural ball saluting the historic election of Barack Obama in the worst economic climate in three generations. Can you get away with glitzing it up and still be appropriate, not to mention comfortable and financially viable? To quote the man of the hour: Yes, you can. Veteran ballgoers say you should. And fashionistas insist that you must. This is a time to celebrate. This is a great moment." (courtesy of Rush Limbaugh)

So it's ok to throw an over the top inaugural bash during horrible economic times for Obama, but to throw a bash that's one-third as expensive in a booming economy for Bush is a waste of $$? Give me a break.

Obama and Gitmo - Terrifying Combo

Obama, while on the campaign trail, promised repeatedly to close Guantanamo Bay military prison in his first 100 days in office. Oops, now he's realizing that maybe this whole closing a prison that houses terrorists trained to kill us thing may be more complicated than he thought, but he's still promising to do it.

Guantanamo Bay prison houses inmates classified by the U.S. as "enemy combatants". Since 2001, 775 detainees have been brought there and 420 have been released without charge. About 255 detainees remain. There has been a lot of hullaballoo about the treatment of prisoners at Gitmo (apparently people who try to kill innocent Americans are entitled to art classes, Gameboys and movie nights to "keep their brains stimulated" and special meals cooked in accordance with Islamic law, including traditional desserts.) Poor little murdering terrorists!

Anyway, Obama thinks closing down this Club Med is a good idea, and either wants: (1) these dangerous anti-American radicals released; (2) the detainees tried in American courts and therefore be entitled to full Constitutional protection; or (3) tried in some yet to be created military court.

If he releases these murderous animals, where would they go? Their home countries don't want them. We don't want them. Also, a report released yesterday by the Pentagon states that 61 of the prisoners released from Guantanamo have returned to their terrorist ways.

Great idea Obama. The hits just keep on coming. And you haven't even taken office yet. Shudder.

Obama Wants to Bankrupt Coal Industry

Did you know Obama said in a radio interview in January 2008 that if someone plans to build a new coal plant, that's fine but it will bankrupt them because they will be charged such high fees for all that greenhouse gas that will be emitted? Oh really Obama? Click here to listen to the interview.

So, let's see, Obama hates off-shore drilling, he hates coal, he hates nuclear (which I'm shocked about, since France gets a lot of its power from nuclear plants and he's in love with Europe). What does he approve of? Solar and wind. Oh and if you get regular tuneups and check your tire pressure, that will solve most of our oil problems. Click here to listen to his brilliance.

He's Obam-inable.

A Few Interesting Tidbits

First, a hilarious video of an Obama supporter - click here - did you know that after Obama's elected she won't have to pay for her mortgage or to put gas in her car?

Second, an interesting tidbit of news - remember Bill Ayers, Obama's terrorist pal who Obama spent quite a bit of time with, although he's now trying to deny it? Did you know that Bill Ayers wrote a book in 1974 that he dedicated to Sirhan Sirhan, who assassinated Robert Kennedy? Did you know that Teddy Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy served on Obama's VP selection committee and campaigned for Obama? Hmmmmm.

The Obama-nation of the day: Obama kicked three reporters for major newspapers who endorsed McCain off his campaign airplane for the final legs of his campaign. I guess if you don't fawn over him like the rest of the media does, you can hitch a ride with someone else. The reporters have been on the plane since 2007.

Barack Honors Rashid Khalidi

The L.A. Times has a tape of Obama in 2003 in Chicago at a farewell bash for the guest of honor, Rashid Khalidi, a former spokesperson for master terrorist Yassir Arafat. Khalidi was going to Columbia University to head its Middle Eastern Studies dept (which is allegedly extremely anti-Semitic). Anyway, guests at the party, including American terrorist Bill Ayers, heaped praise on the terrorist. The evening was sponsored by the Arab American Action Network. The AAAN is an organization that hates Israel, our ally, and supports the Palestinian Arab terrorist movement. The evening was filled with Israel bashing and anti-American rhetoric (but wait, I thought Obama just loved Israel, at least that's what he said in the debates). Obama heaped praise on Khalidi at the party. There's a fascinating story about the bash here. Do you think the LA Times would sit on a tape featuring McCain at an anti-American party? I think not.

Barry the Red

You think Barack's comment that "we want to spread the wealth around" was just a slight slip of the tongue and that he's not actually a socialist (or communist)?

Think again! Check out this 2001 radio interview with Barack in Chicago. Click here to listen. A caller asks Barack to explain how he would do “reparative economic work.” Obama gives the legislative route two thumbs up as his preferred method of “breaking free of the constraints” placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution and then burbles about cobbling together the “actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change.”

Some more of his lovely comments:

"If you look at the victories and failures of the civil rights movement and its litigation strategy in the court. I think where it succeeded was to invest formal rights in previously dispossessed people, so that now I would have the right to vote. I would now be able to sit at the lunch counter and order as long as I could pay for it I’d be o.k. But, the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society. To that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, at least as its been interpreted and Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. Says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the Federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the Federal government or State government must do on your behalf, and that hasn’t shifted and one of the, I think, tragedies of the civil rights movement was, um, because the civil rights movement became so court focused I think there was a tendancy to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change. In some ways we still suffer from that."

Obama and FDR: Birds of a Feather

Did anyone else catch Obama's economic speech? He promised bold, sweeping and dramatic action to save the economy. He's determined we're going to spend our way out of this mess! (I know that in my own personal life, when I am in a financial jam, taking on more debt as opposed to cutting spending always works out so well for me). He's even going to work on the weekends to get his economic plan passed! America is going to spend trillions of dollars on "green jobs" and pork projects "for the children".

Did you know that in 2004, two UCLA economists discovered why the depression dragged on for 15 years? The cause: Franklin D. Roosevelt. He intervened in the free market to help the economy recover. FDR promoted and signed into law two anti-competition and pro-labor measures in 1933. The economists believe the economy would have recovered very quickly if the government hadn't intervened. Ironically, FDR is credited with lifting the nation out of the depression.

I sense history repeating itself. You can read more about the study here or at Michelle Malkin's blog.

Sweet Michelle Obama

I don't think spouses of presidential candidates should be criticized as harshly as the candidiates themselves. However, Barack has a pattern of associating himself with racists who hate America. And no one better epitomizes this than his number one associate, his wife.

Some of Michelle's lovely comments: we're a divided country, we're a country that is "just downright mean," we are "guided by fear," we're a nation of cynics, sloths, and complacents. "We have become a nation of struggling folks who are barely making it every day," she said. "Folks are just jammed up, and it's gotten worse over my lifetime. And, doggone it, I'm young. Forty-four!" Woe is her!

And she goes on: "You're looking at a young couple (referring to herself and BO) that's just a few years out of debt. See, because, we went to those good schools, and we didn't have trust funds. I'm still waiting for Barack's trust fund. Especially after I heard that Dick Cheney was s'posed to be a relative or something. Give us something here!"

See, she's got her hand out too. She and Barack chose to attend some of the most prestigious and expensive schools in the country, and she's mad because they had to pay for it! Give me a break! I guess an Ivy league education is supposed to be free?

She also commented that she was never proud of her country in her adult life until her husband became the nominee. It's funny after all these comments she suddenly had to run to Chicago to tend to her daughters and has scarcely been seen since.

Final point: Michelle's senior thesis she wrote while at Princeton shows what a racist she is. Check it out here if you don't believe me. It was on the racial divide in America. She wrote that by choosing to attend Princeton she experienced "further integration and/or assimilation into a white cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant."
She was also shocked by Barack's win in Iowa because "Ain't no black people in Iowa!" Yes, she said that. In other words, America is so racist that only blacks would vote for Barack.

Ok, now my final point: Michelle's views to me reflect a lot on Barack, especially when viewed in light of the other racists he hangs out with.

Privatizing Social Security

Now's probably not the best time to talk about how great investing in the stock market is but I'm going to anyway.

Did you know that since 1926, the annual average return of the stock market is near 12 percent per year when adjusted for inflation?

Did you know that for a household with two 30 year old wage earners, the average return on an investment in social security is only 1.23 percent annually? For some low income minorities, there is actually a negative return because of decreased life expectancy.

Wouldn't it be great if instead of throwing away our money that is stolen from our paychecks against our will and thrown into a large social insecurity pot, we could keep some or all of that money in a private account to invest as we wished?

Bush tried to enact a partial privatization of social security. Under his plan, workers would be able to place part of their social security money into private accounts that they would control and be able to pass on to children and grandchildren. The accounts were completely optional, not mandatory. Those workers who were comfortable with SS as it was didn't have to participate. Sounds like a great plan, right?

Guess who didn't think it was a great plan: Barack Obama. He called social security "Franklin Roosevelt's greatest legacy" instead of what it is: a giant entitlement program that is bankrupting America and that I don't expect to see a dime from when I retire. On the campaign trail he told a group of voters in Florida that McCain wanted to privatize their social security and "gamble with their life savings".

That is typical liberalism for you: any possible option that would lessen the effect of government in peoples lives should be quashed. If American citizens are not reliant on the government anymore, the Democrat party will shrivel up and die. What a wonderful thought.

Just Some of What Defines B.O.
