Are you feeling blue today because of the economy? Don't worry, Obama can help. His administration just launched a website today designed to help people who are depressed due to the state of the economy. http://www.samhsa.gov/economy/
Here's an idea Obama. How about you fix the economy instead of giving me some 800 number to call to talk to some psychologist bureaucrat who is obviously so crappy at his job that he is working for the federal government instead of in private practice? Why are you taking my money for this stuff? And by the way, if I ever get depressed, the government is the LAST place I would call. They are actually the ones who make me depressed and angry.
Why don't you lower taxes, lower spending, and get your nose out of the private sector and see what that does for the economy? I'm getting angry!!

Obama Won't Take Real Questions from Real People
Last week, Obama held a town hall forum. There was an internet question portion of the forum where anyone could submit questions, and then he also called on "regular" people in the White House to ask him questions. (I made up my own list of questions (below) but didn't send any of them in. Now that I know the deck was stacked I'm glad I didn't bother.)
Five of the questioners he called on in the White House have been fully identified. Now here's a real shocker: all five who were called on who have been identified are Obama supporters! They include: a member of the pro-Obama Service Employees International Union, a member of the Democratic National Committee who campaigned for Obama among Hispanics during the primary; a former Democratic candidate for Virginia state delegate who endorsed Obama last fall in an op-ed in the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star; and a Virginia businessman who was a donor to Obama's campaign in 2008. WOW! I am shocked! Obama won't risk taking any real questions? I am blown away. Click here to read more.
In case you are interested, here are the questions I would have asked him about the economy, which I made up last week.
1. Why did you campaign against earmarks and sign a bill with 8,000 of them in it?
2. Why did you campaign on transparency in government and then strong arm our representatives into signing a 900 page, $1 trillion bill without giving them or the American people time to read what was in it?
3. Why do you want to harm charities by limiting the charitable deductions wealthy people receive when they donate to charities? Is it so the government will be forced to pick up the slack after charities financially collapse, thereby making politicians like you stronger and the government bigger?
4. Why did you say in your press conference that we are moving from an era of borrow and spend to one where we save and invest? What planet are you living on?
5. Why were you giggling like a schoolgirl when discussing the economy on 60 minutes? Is this stuff funny to you?
6. Why did you trash Bush for increasing the national debt while according to this chart using your own numbers, Bush's spending was a drop in the bucket compared to yours?
7. Why did you spend $1 billion we don't have every hour for the first 50 days of your administration? Have you even heard of Dave Ramsey?
8. Is the White House aware of the taxpayer revolts (tea parties) occurring on a weekly basis across the country? What does Obama plan to do to appease taxpayers?
9. Why do you say you want to fix the economy when every single action you take says the opposite, like the card check bill, the limiting greenhouse gases bill, and punishing the country's producers with ridiculous amounts of income taxes? Do you think any of these actions will actually help the economy? Really Obama?
10. Why do you like to blame Bush for the state of the economy, when it's all linked to the housing crisis, which can be directly linked to Democrats forcing banks to make bad loans to minorities? Why do you blame Bush when the record shows he sounded the alarm bell in 2002?
11. Why are you punishing people who play by the rules and make their mortgage payments on time by forcing them to foot the bill for those who don't?
12. Why did you hire a tax cheat to head the IRS?
13. Why did you put a burden on the economy by giving free health insurance to kids living in families that make up to $88,000 per year? Don't you think families who make $88k a year can afford their own insurance? Is it so more people become dependent on government?

Obama the Business Leader

An exciting update to some Obama-nation news: Sean Hannity is going to broadcast from the Atlanta Tax Day Tea Party that I was already excited to attend. Now I'm even more excited!
The Obama-nation of the day: Obama's administration recently forced GM's CEO to resign. It also forced Chrysler to make a deal with Fiat. Obama is exercising this authority because of the bailout $$ the automakers received. This is frightening. Obama is the head of the automakers now? Has this man ever ever run anything ever until about 70 days ago when he took control of the most powerful entity in the world and began running it into the ground? Has he ever been the head of a town, a state, a company, anything? So why does he think he presumes to know what's best for a company?

Obama's Press Conference
I watched a few minutes of his press conference tonight. I am torn between wanting to gather material for my Obama-nations and get a good laugh, and being nauseated when I see him.
Apparently, you are allowed to tell outright lies with a straight face during a press conference. My two personal favorites out of the very few minutes I watched:
(1) limiting the charitable deductions available to wealthy people won't harm charities - I worked for a couple of years with a nonprofit and I assisted rich people with their tax planning as it related to charitable deductions. While they were very generous people, to say that they are going to give the same amount to charities regardless of the tax deduction they receive is completely absurd.
(2) My favorite quote: "And in this budget, we have — we have to make the tough choices necessary to cut our deficit in half by the end of my first term, even under the most pessimistic estimates. At the end of the day, the best way to bring our deficit down in the long run is not with a budget that continues the very same policies that have led us to a narrow prosperity and massive debt. It's with a budget that leads to broad economic growth by moving from an era of borrow and spend to one where we save and invest."
So his budget is moving from an era of borrow and spend to one where we save and invest? What planet is this guy living on? Has he seen his own projected deficits for the next 10 years?

The Great Teleprompter of the United States

I've been out of town since Thursday morning without access to the internet or TV, so where should I start with all the obam-inable things he's done in the past 4 days?
Hmmm, he's appeared on Jay Leno, making jokes and having fun while the economy is in the toilet. Apparently he even compared his bowling skills to those of an athlete in the Special Olympics. What would happen if George Bush or Sarah Palin cracked a joke about mentally retarded people?
He appeared on 60 minutes last night and was laughing and smiling while talking about the economy.
The Congressional Budget Office just released the news that under Obama's budget for 2010, by 2019 the U.S. national debt will be about 82 percent of GDP.
OK, this is just too depressing - let's look at something funny from King of the Teleprompter. At a St. Patrick's Day celebration at the White House, Ireland's prime minister got up to give a speech. He was a couple of lines into when he realized it had malfunctioned and put the speech Obama had just given on the teleprompter rather than his speech. He stopped and turned to the president and said "that's your speech". Obama laughed, went back to the podium, and the teleprompter had switched back to the prime minister's speech while he was walking up. So Obama did what he always does, read from the teleprompter, and thanked himself for being invited to the White House!!!! Click here and here to read.

Obama Hates Guns, End of Story
First, an update. Obama is backing off his reprehensible idea to make vets pay for their own health care after being wounded serving our country. That's great but what was he thinking in the first place? Click here to read more.
Obama is determined that America is going to be attacked again by terrorists. I know that sounds crazy, but how else can you reconcile all the actions he's taken to make America weaker during his first 2 months in office? No more waterboarding, no more Guantanamo Bay, and you can't even call the terrorists "enemy combatants" anymore.
And now, he's siphoning money away from a program that allows pilots to carry guns on planes. Apparently this week his administration took $2 million in federal funds away from a pilot training program that trains pilots so that they can carry guns on planes. The money was diverted to hire more supervisors who will engage in field inspections of pilots. This is despite the fact that pilots who have completed the training have the best behavior of any federal law enforcement agency. According to this article, since Obama's election, the approval process for allowing pilots to carry firearms has slowed significantly. I'm not surprised given Obama's distaste for the second amendment. Which is probably why applications for conceal carry permits went up in my state around 80% after Barack took office.

Free Health Care for Everyone but Veterans!
Have you heard about Obama's latest brilliant idea? He is planning to force private insurance companies to pay for the treatment of military veterans who have suffered service-connected disabilities and injuries. Click here to read. Apparently during a meeting with senior officials from veterans service organizations on the proposal, Obama "refused to hear arguments about the moral and government-avowed obligations that would be compromised by it".
This is absolutely disgusting. I just don't get it. Obama wants to provide free healthcare for everyone (including bottom dwelling lifelong welfare recipients who have never held a job ever) but not our troops for injuries they received b/c WE sent them to battle for us? Now private insurance companies have to pay for medical care for our own troops? He disgusts me. I have never met such an unpatriotic person in my life, and he's the president!!
Also, this article from the NY Times says the Obama administration is open to taxing health care benefits in order to pay for his socialized medicine. Isn't that just great? So let's get all those with health insurance to pay an extra tax so those without it can have it for free. Let's get this straight, pretty soon those who don't work will get free health insurance and their mortgages paid for. Hmmm, sounds like a good time to retire to me. Why bother working when others can do it for me?

Obama the Outraged
This AIG stuff just makes me mad. All of a sudden Obama has knickers in a bunch about AIG getting taxpayer dollars and using that to give bonuses. He said the bonus payments are an “outrage” and said he wants Geithner to “pursue every single legal avenue” to block the payments. “This is a corporation that finds itself in financial distress due to recklessness and greed,” Obama said. “This isn’t just a matter of dollars and cents. It’s about our fundamental values.”
First of all, the bonuses are less than 1/10 of 1% of the bailout money AIG received. The bonuses are $165 million. Second of all, the company is contractually obligated to pay these bonuses. Obama can't come in and rewrite contract law. Third, I am guessing that many of these executives earned their bonuses b/c their particular divisions did well, even if the company did terrible overall.
But the thing that makes me the MADDEST is all of a sudden Obama is so concerned about $165 million dollars of taxpayer funds? This is the man who has spent $1 BILLION EVERY HOUR of the first 50 days of his administration! I think he wants to direct the focus away from his reckless spending and direct the anger towards some greedy executives. This is just disgusting.
Also, if we are so concerned about accountability of taxpayer funds all of a sudden, what about the billions of taxpayer dollars that go to welfare recipients every month? Aren't they allowed to go out and blow that on whatever they want? Are they held accountable?
(I'm not saying that people who ran a company into the ground should be rewarded with my money. But that's not what this hullabaloo is all about).

$1 Billion Per Hour

How much of our money (well, since we don't even have the money, I guess you could say how much debt) has the Obama administration voted to spend during his short time in office (as of yesterday)? Are you really ready for the number? $1 BILLION PER HOUR, every hour of his administration.
He's been in office 50 days as of yesterday, and since that time Congress has voted to spend $1.2 trillion, which equals out to $1 billion an hour. Click here to read more.

Only 1,411 Days Left!!
Obama signed a $410 Billion spending package today behind closed doors. Obama, why not ride Air Force One to Denver to sign it in front of some solar panels to show how "green" you are like the last spending bill you signed? Is it because you are embarrassed that the bill contains 8,000 earmarks? While also killing the voucher program that allows poor D.C. minorities to go to private schools?
This video shows what he thought about earmarks during the campaign (his exact words are "absolutely we need earmark reform, and when I'm President I will go line by line to make sure we're not spending unwisely"). Now I guess earmarks are ok and spending is through the roof. In fact, right up until he signed the bill, he was claiming it didn't have any earmarks in it - watch here.
Now, he claims that it's an "imperfect bill". Well, then don't sign it!! Nobody has a gun to your head. He said the bill must signal "an end to the old way of doing business". OK, so starting NOW things are going to change. Ha ha ha. You are ridiculous and I am counting the days until you are out of office (1,411 days to be exact).

Obama's Culture of Death, Part 2
Obama signed an order to allow federal funds to be used on embryonic stem cell research, and for more embryonic stem cell research to be done. Just another step in his culture of death. He has no respect for life whatsoever. He doesn't care if it's a full-term baby, an embryo, or an old person with a couple of years left (and if you think I'm being silly, read the spend-ulus bill and what it had to say about expensive medical procedures for elderly people). This disregards the basic fact that none of the scientific advancements that have come from stem cell research have come from embryonic stem cells - all come from adult stem cells.
What a Tacky Present
Obama majorly snubbed G.B. Prime Minister Gordon Brown during his first U.S. visit during the Obama administration last week. A scheduled joint press conference was canceled "due to snow". Brown brought Obama an ornamental pen holder made from the timbers of the Victorian anti-slave ship HMS Gannet (oak from its sister ship was used to make an Oval Office desk), a framed commission for HMS Resolute and a first edition of the seven-volume biography of Churchill by Sir Martin Gilbert. Obama gave Brown a set of 25 DVDs (as mom said, if you can buy it at Wal-mart, it's probably not a good enough gift for the Prime Minister). Brown also didn't get a state dinner, as is customary. You can read more about it here.

Health Care Reform, Now!
A few interesting articles:
Obama never leaves home without his teleprompter.
An economics professor says Obama-nomics is killing the stock market.
Yesterday, Obama said that there is an immediate need for health care reform. Unbelievably, he said "the greatest threat to America's fiscal health is not Social Security, though that's a significant challenge. It is not the investments we've made to rescue our economy during this crisis. By a wide margin, the biggest threat to our nation's balance sheet is the skyrocketing cost of health care. It's not even close." Too bad he didn't check his numbers, click here to read more about his shaky math.
WHAT???? Has he taken a look at the stock market lately? Virtually everyone I know has insurance through their jobs. As long as their jobs are secure, they are fine as far as health care goes. Why doesn't he focus on the economy instead of shoving socialized medicine down everyone's throats?

Recovery
"Recession is when your neighbor loses his job. Depression is when you lose yours. And Recovery is when Obama loses his."
Going John Galt
The conservative blogs I read are all talking about the phenomenon of "Going John Galt" that is already occurring as a result of Obama's policies that will punish the achievers. The title comes from Ayn Rand's book Atlas Shrugged (that I haven't read but will shortly). Apparently the book describes the achievers rising up and failing to produce. There are many, many real life examples of this in the articles I've been reading. Some are:
- a teacher who is going to quit his side consulting business b/c of the high cost of working for himself.
- a lawyer who will do everything possible to limit her income to $249,999.
- the owner of a small company that makes artificial limbs is moving his company to central America.
Click here and here to read more about this phenomenon, and click here if you are going to do this yourself and would like to be interviewed (the interviewer said she got over 400 emails from people living this phenomenon).

Update on Obama's Voucher Killer
An update on President Meanie's cancellation of the DC voucher system: click here to read what the Press Secretary said about Obama's daughters attending a private school while cancelling the voucher system for other D.C. minorities. Here's a little teaser:
QUESTION: Well, could you just restate the president's position?
GIBBS: Well, I think the president has concerns about -- concerns about taking large amounts of funding out of the system to -- to address this, that the president obviously believes -- and I think you'll hear him talk about and has talked about -- the need for reform in our educational system, but -- but has not agreed with the program in the past. I'll see if there's anything to update on that.
Wow, how illuminating!

Some Follow-Ups
A couple of follow ups to some previous Obama-nations:
- Don't you just love it when a huge global warming protest gets cancelled by a massive snowstorm?
- Also, watch this video to Obama from kids who have benefitted from the D.C. voucher program. The video says that Obama hasn't taken a position on the issue, but I think by approving a bill that cuts funding for the program he has spoken loud and clear. You can also click here to read what the Washington Post, a left wing newspaper, thinks of the cancellation of the voucher program (hint: they are actually on our side). (P.S. Do you think the parents of all those kids, who undoubtedly voted for Obama, would admit to having voter's remorse?)
Now, the Obama-nation of the day:
If you can stomach visiting Barack's official campaign website and need a hearty laugh, click here. Then click on the heading reading "Shine the Light on Federal Contracts, Tax Breaks and Earmarks". Then think about Obama's $410 billion budget that contained between 7,000 and 9,000 earmarks. It's almost funny. Except he's less than two months into his term.

Obama the Party Animal
After being at 9,600 on election day, the Dow's just tumbled below 6,800. (Something is making investors very nervous.) People are losing their jobs and their savings. So what's Obama doing? Partying like it's 1999. Read this article about the "burst of entertaining" that has overcome the White House. Disgusting.
No School Choice for D.C. Minorities!
This stinks. It really stinks.
A $410 Billion omnibus spending bill is lurking out there. A second chance for Democrats to blow more of our money.
However, they will NOT blow money on school choice! In the bill, there is language designed to kill the Opportunity Scholarship Program. This program gives families in D.C. up to $7,500 a year to attend the schools of their choice. D.C. schools spend over $14,000 per year per pupil and are among the worst schools in the country (students score last in math and next to last in reading among all urban schools in the US). To qualify, a student's income must be at or below 185% of the poverty level. 99% of the students who participate in the program are minorities. Studies show that participants in the program do better than those not in the program. The program is so popular that there are 4 applicants for each voucher. Without the vouchers, 80% of those students will attend failing public schools. Click here to read more about the voucher program.
Well, the word from the AP today is that Obama is going to sign this spending bill. Click here. The story actually said Obama would hold his nose and sign it, despite it containing more than 8,700 earmarks.
So let me get this straight. Obama's daughters go to a school that's about $30,000 a year. But he wants to cut out a program that allows other very poor, minority students in the same area to attend private schools for half the cost of a failing public school.
YOU ARE OBAM-INABLE!!
A $410 Billion omnibus spending bill is lurking out there. A second chance for Democrats to blow more of our money.

The Spending Monster
Some fun facts about Obama's proposed budget (courtesy of michellemalkin.com):
In 2009, federal spending will approach $4 trillion, or 28 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) – a one-third increase in the size of government in a single year. The budget released by the White House today is loaded with job-killing tax hikes and a slate of even more government spending. Overall, the blueprint projects a record $1.75 trillion deficit this year while doubling the national debt over the next ten years. Following are just 10 fast facts about the Administration’s budget, which our children and grandchildren will be paying for far into the future.
1. The Administration’s projected budget deficit of $1.75 trillion is higher than the last five years of deficits combined, and under this plan, we will see three consecutive trillion dollar deficits between now and FY 2012.
2. While it was purported to cut the budget deficit in half – from $1.75 trillion in 2009 to $533 billion by 2013 – this budget projects higher deficits in 2014 ($570 billion), 2015 ($583 billion), and 2016 ($637 billion). In 2019, the final year in the budget, the deficit is projected to be $712 billion.
3. Including the recently-enacted trillion-dollar “stimulus” spending bill, discretionary spending will soar by 24 percent this year under this budget.
4. The budget projects that the national debt will increase from $8.4 trillion in 2009 to $15.4 trillion in 2019.
5. The Administration’s budget contains $1.4 trillion in tax increases – tax hikes that will impact everyone, from small businesses, charities, and seniors to everyone who owns a 401(k) and anyone who flips on a light switch.
6. After promising that he will reduce taxes on 95 percent of Americans, the Administration’s budget establishes a $646 billion energy tax hike that will impact anyone who uses electricity, drives a car, or relies on energy in any way.
7. This budget forecasts more than $1.5 trillion in new health care spending, including a 10-year, $634 billion a health care “reserve fund.” The budget also calls for seven percent annual growth in Medicare and more than six percent annual growth in Medicaid over the next 10 years.
8. The budget includes a $750 billion placeholder for a second round of spending under the Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP), even though the first round of TARP spending is not yet finished, nor is there a clear explanation of how funds under the initial round was spent.
9. The Administration’s budget claims that reducing the number of troops in Iraq over the next 10 years will cut the deficit by $1.6 trillion; however, that is only because the budget allocates the same amount of funds for the Iraq war each year over the next decade, even though most combat troops may be withdrawn during the next 19 months. The savings are, at best, deceptive.
10. The budget provides a scant 2.9 percent pay raise for military personnel as required by law, less than a week after Democrats in Congress provided the necessary funding to implement District of Columbia locality pay for overseas Foreign Service officers, which would constitute an 18 percent pay increase.
