I just saw the Obam-inable one on Fox News, proud as a peacock that he was getting ready to sign an anti-smoking bill into law. He was grinning and introducing everyone from members of the CDC to some kids in an anti-smoking group. (Does anyone else find it ironic that a president who himself smokes is passing an anti-smoking law?)
The bill is extensive, and will give the FDA new powers over the tobacco industry. Cigarette cartons will now have to be covered in large graphic warnings. Nicotine levels in cigarettes must be reduced. Cigarettes can't be labeled "light" or "low tar".
No one seems to mind this because it involves the evil tobacco industry. But I mind it! More regulations, a bigger government, more bureaucrats, more expensive cigarettes which means that people who buy them will have less money to spend on other things (like paying me to do an estate plan for them). It's hilarious that he thinks that the government requiring large warnings on cigarette cartons is going to do any good - everyone knows now that smoking is bad for you!!
Why is he worrying about this right now? Has he checked out the state of the economy lately? Has he been listening to Kim Jong Crazypants's warnings about the US interfering with his missile launch he has planned for July 4? Has he seen the people dying in Iran to protest a corrupt election? (Oh, that's right, he used to work for ACORN and he's a Chicago politician, he has no problem with corrupt elections). Oh well, only 1,308 days to go.
