Guess what Obama's planning to do to September 11? Allow us to remember the 3,000 people murdered by Muslim extremists? Celebrate our patriotism perhaps? NOPE! He signed a law in April naming Sept. 11 as a "National Day of Service". That doesn't sound too bad does it?
On Aug. 11 a White House sponsored teleconference took place that was run by the Hip Hop Caucus. The group in on the teleconference plans to turn a "day of fear" that helps Republicans into a day of activism called the National Day of Service that helps the left. The group in on the teleconference included such unsavory characters as ACORN, AFL-CIO, Apollo Alliance, Community Action Partnership, Deep South Center for Environmental Justice, 80 Million Strong for Young American Jobs, Friends of the Earth, Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, Mobilize.org, National Black Police Association, National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, National Council of Negro Women, National Wildlife Federation, RainbowPUSH Coalition, Urban League, and Young Democrats of America.
This group is launching a PR campaign to turn Sept. 11 from a day of reflection and remembrance to a day of activism, food banks, and community gardens. This group views 9/11 as a "Republican day" b/c of its patriotism. What kind of "service" do you think these groups will be promoting? I think 9/11 should be the day we think about whether 9/11 would have happened if we allowed racial profiling. But I guess instead I'll go plant a garden and try to decrease my carbon footprint.
