Sorry for the break everyone. I had a surprise medical problem a couple of weeks ago and ended up spending a week in the hospital. I'm now catching up on what the Obam-inable one has done recently.
1. North Korea just staged an underground nuclear test. Reminder: out of all of Obama's massive spending, what is one of the few areas he actually cut? Missile defense.
2. Obama nominated his first supreme court justice. Yes, she is both a woman and a minority, as predicted. This woman has a hard core record as a leftist on the Court of Appeals (but did we expect anything less)? In 2002, she said during a speech that it's appropriate for a judge to consider their "experiences as women and people of color" during decisionmaking. Wait a second, isn't justice supposed to be blind? She also has acknowledged that she believes judges aren't there to interpret laws as our founding fathers intended, but rather to make their own rules, saying that "the Court of Appeals is where policy is made." Judges like her are the reason that gay marriage is legal in Iowa, not because voters want it, but because judges do. We can expect bad things from this.
3. Obama's new car tax: Obama announced the nation's first national emissions standards for cars and light trucks. By the time the plan is complete in 2016, consumers can expect to pay an extra $1300 per vehicle. In addition, consumers can expect to pay an extra $700 for changes he's already approved. Wait, I thought he wasn't raising taxes on 95% of working families?
4. Michelle Obama, in a speech at UC Merced, urged graduates to "give something back". Did you know that between 2000 and 2004 the Obamas did give something back - less than 1% of their income was donated to charity. The biggest donation was made to the church that espouses hate towards America and white people.
5. Perhaps the most ridiculous of all things he's said lately: Obama told Americans "we're out of money . . . . this is a consequence of the crisis that we’ve seen and in fact our failure to make some good decisions on health care over the last several decades."
Yes, we are out of money b/c we don't have socialized medicine. Hey, wait a second, don't we have free healthcare for the elderly? And isn't that system completely, totally out of money? So how is adding more people to that plan going to help? Click here to read more.
6. Finally, a little comic relief: remember Obama vowing to close Gitmo, making a big deal out of that, emphasizing that we don't want that sad chapter to continue in America's history, etc. Well the Senate gave him a little dose of reality - they voted to not give any funding in order to close it. Ha ha ha ha ha.
