Obama's Pals

For the next several days, I am going to do one post each day about one of Obama's bosom buddies who also happens to be a sleaze. I realize this is probably old news to some but probably not all of you.

Sleaze #1: Jeremiah Wright

The scoop: Obama first met Jeremiah Wright, a preacher at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, in the 1980's, when he began attending his church. He officiated at his wedding as well as his children's baptisms. The title of his memoir was inspired by one of Wright's sermons. So Barack and Jeremiah are pretty tight, right?

In 2008, some of Wright's controversial sermons were uncovered by the mainstream media. In these "sermons", he blamed the 9/11 attacks on the U.S., he said the U.S. invented AIDS to kill black people, he said "God &*^& America", and many other truly hateful, bitter things about the U.S. and blacks (including the lovely nickname Condoskeezer Rice). He is truly full of hatred for the U.S. This is Barack's preacher and "spiritual adviser" for 20 years and he never had any idea that these were Wright's opinions? Either he's lying about how involved he is in his church to make himself look good, or he's lying about his relationship with Wright to make himself look good.

Stanley Kurtz, who wrote a cover story on Jeremiah Wright for National Review, said "Nearly every sermon Wright preaches, as well as his now-infamous bulletins and church magazines, is filled with his radicalism, and it's therefore impossible not to conclude that Obama was broadly attracted to Wright's politics."

At the beginning of the controversy, Barack said he had never heard any of these opinions from Wright. Then, he said he had heard some controversial statements from Wright while he was in church. He later completely denounced him after realizing the controversy wasn't going to go away. True loyalty to his preacher of 20 years.
