Do you remember the huge embarrassment Obama caused us when he gave Gordon Brown a set of DVDs after Brown brought Obama an ornamental pen holder made from the timbers of the Victorian anti-slave ship HMS Gannet (oak from its sister ship was used to make an Oval Office desk), a framed commission for HMS Resolute and a first edition of the seven-volume biography of Churchill by Sir Martin Gilbert? Did you know the DVDs wouldn't even play on British DVD players? Remember how I mentioned that if you can buy the gift at Wal-mart, you probably shouldn't give it to the prime minister of your major ally in the world?
Obama had a chance to redeem himself. He's on his first official trip to Europe as President. Well guess what, he bought another Wal-mart gift, this time for the Queen of England!! He gave her an iPod. She already owns an iPod. The iPod includes photos from Obama's inauguration, audio of his speech at the 2004 Democrat convention, and audio of his 2009 Inaugural address.
