More Sweet Deals for Labor Unions

This one will make you mad. Have you heard that in order to pay for Obama-care, people who receive a "Cadillac" health insurance policy from their employers are going to be taxed on it? Under the Senate Finance plan, health insurance plans that cost more than $8,000 a year for individuals ($21,000 for families) will pay a FORTY percent tax on the amount above that threshold. I think the insurance company picks up the rest of the tab. Not that it matters who pays it, the ultimate cost will be paid by the insured.

Anyone who has shopped around for insurance knows that it is very easy for a healthy person's insurance plan to cost more than $8,000 a year. And guess which group has a large number of its members with Cadillac plans? I'll give you a hint - they are a huge supporter of Democrats. That's right, labor unions. Labor unions are mad about this new tax.

So guess what they are doing - negotiating with Democrats on an exception to that tax for unions. Reportedly, the unions will drop their objections to the tax if Democrats will carve out an exception to the tax for those plans negotiated under a collective bargaining agreement. Labor Unions at Their Finest - Thanks Obama!

What a sad day - our country's first 9/11 since George Bush. When I heard on TV about something the President and his wife were doing to commemorate Sept. 11, I automatically thought of George and Laura. Then the horror sunk in.

From my favorite blog, michellemalkin.com (I also read on this blog that one of my favorite reporters, John Stossel, is moving to Fox News!!):

Many rail attacks by terrorists have occurred, in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chechnya, Madrid, and London. So Amtrak has an Office of Security Strategy and Special Operations (OSSO), full of experts in terrorist-butt-kicking. Each member underwent special training in rail security, marksmanship, etc. OSSO works with federal, state, and local authorities to detect and defend against terrorist attacks on railways. OSSO has also provided security for Bush, the Pope, the Democrat and Republican conventions, etc.

So what's this kick-a** group doing now? The east and west coast teams have not worked at counterterrorism since the summer. This occurred after the departure of an Amtrak VP and an Amtrak general inspector. The VP was instrumental in creating OSSO's predecessor. The Inspector unexpectedly "retired" and the VP was fired. Why?

A union that represents the Amtrak Police Dept. has been peeved that OSSO isn't unionized since it was formed. Biden is very tight with that union. OSSO is now magically under the control of the APD, which is unionized. OSSO's stimulus money has gone to the APD. The APD officers have repeatedly shown they don't understand counterterrorism.

Obama's In Bed With Labor Unions

It was big news this week that Obama is cutting $17 billion from his budget. That's a whopping one-half of one percent of the budget. It's also only 4.25% of the INCREASE in the budget under Obama, and it's only 2.2% of the spendulus package. It's only .85% of 2009's deficit.

The most obam-inable part of this? Guess what areas Obama is making his cuts in? 50% of the savings come from defense's budget, that was not unexpected given his track record of making this country less safe. But guess which other department whose budget was slashed by a whopping 9 percent? The unit of the Department of Labor in charge of regulating labor unions!! Let's see, first this week he strong arms secured creditors of Chrysler in order to save the labor unions, and now he is slashing the budget of a group in charge of investigating corrupt union practices. Unbelievable.

No Choice for Employees

This is old news but I've never mentioned it before - Obama is a sponsor of H.R. 800, the Employee Free Choice Act (an ironic title for the law since in my opinion it drastically limits employees' choices). The EFCA eliminates the right to a secret ballot in union recognition elections. Which means if union organizers want to pay a house call to employees to urge them to vote in favor of unionization, they could. If employees want to pressure other employees to vote to unionize, they can since they will know who's for it and who's against it. It will no longer be possible for an employee to secretly vote against unionization.
Could this bill possibly be a result of all the money the unions give the Democrats? If there are more union members and more forced union dues, do you think that will equal more money for the Democrats?

He's Obam-inable!!
