Obama appointed another tax cheat in a key position in his administration. This time it's Tom Daschle who was appointed to be secretary of Health & Human Services.
Did you know that in 1998, Daschle stated on the congressional record "Make no mistake, tax cheaters cheat us all, and the IRS should enforce our laws to the letter."
After Obama mentioned to Daschle that he might consider him for a high level job, suddenly Daschle had to file some amended tax returns. Oops, he suddenly remembered that he had forgotten to include the $255,000 dollar value of the limousine service that his employer provided to him for three years in his income. He also suddenly remembered that he had received $83,000 in consulting fees in 2007 that he didn't report. (I just hate it when that extra $83,000 slips my mind when I'm filing taxes, don't you?). He paid an extra $140,000 in back taxes to rectify his "mistake" that he suddenly remembered when Barack came calling. So I guess he's in the clear now.
